Wednesday October 15th– NLCS Game 4. Cardinals 4 Giants 6. Cardinals blow an early three run lead and now trail 3-1 in the series.

W- Yusmeiro Petit (2-0)

L- Marco Gonzales (2-1)

S- Santiago Casilla (4)

The Cardinals came out of the gate with hot bats. After each team scored one run apiece in the 1st inning, Yadier Molina’s replacement AJ Piersynski hit an RBI single in the top of the second to put the Redbirds up 2-1. They added two more runs in the top of the third with a fielder’s choice and a Kolten Wong solo home run. Wong has been en fuego this post season. Cards lead 4-1 going into the bottom part of the third inning. The Giants wasted no time coming back as they took control of Shelby Miller. They scored two runs off of RBI singles by Buster Poser and Hunter Pence. The scoring ceased for just a few short innings as the Giants found their stride in the bottom of the 6th inning. They took control of rookie Marco Gonzales and were helped out by a few bonehead plays by the Cardinals as they put three more runs up on the board to take a 6-4 lead.

The Cardinals will now have to face a tough task in trying to win three games straight to advance to the World Series against the Kansas City Royals. If the Cards do win Thursday night in San Francisco, they will be back at Busch Stadium for games 6 and 7. The first pitch for Thursday night is set for 7:07 PM Central Time.

Probable Starters: STL– Adam Wainwright, SF– Madison Bumgardner
